Ingredients:

  1. Red fruit and Brandy Trifle
  • Sponge
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Strawberry Jam
  • Brandy
  • Custard
  • Cream

or

  1. Apricot and Amaretto Fruitcake Trifle
  • Fruitcake
  • Soft dried apricots
  • Apricot Jam
  • Amaretto
  • Dried apricot pieces
  • Almonds
  • Custard
  • Cream

Or

  1. Chocolate, rum and orange Trifle
  • Pannatone
  • Orange segments
  • Chocolate ganache
  • Chocolate truffles
  • Rum
  • Custard
  • Cream

 Or

  1. Croissant Ginger Trifle
  • Croissant
  • Stem ginger
  • Marmalade
  • Advocat
  • Ginger
  • Walnuts
  • Custard
  • Cream

Method: 

  1. Spread the cake, croissant or panettone with the jam or marmalade and put in the bottom of the bowl
  2. Sprinkle over enough booze to soak the cake but not drown it.
  3. Add any flavourings (fruit, chocolate, ginger, dried fruit, nuts).
  4. Cover with custard (I use Birds custard)
  5. Cover with whipped cream.
  6. Decorate however you like – sprinkles. Nuts, sweeties, edible flowers, glace cherries.
