Magical Mulled Wine

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without mulled wine – perfect with mince pies.

Serves 10

Ingredients

2 bottles full-bodied red wine

600ml (20fl oz) water

10 cloves

1 cinnamon stick

2 star anise

2 sliced oranges

1 sliced lemon

110g (4oz) sugar

Method

Put all the ingredients into a big saucepan, then cook on a low heat for about 30 minutes. Don’t let it come to a simmer or you will lose the alcohol.

Serve in glass cups.
