Prue & John’s Four Instant Trifles

- Red fruit and Brandy Trifle
- Sponge
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Strawberry Jam
- Brandy
- Custard
- Cream
or
- Apricot and Amaretto Fruitcake Trifle
- Fruitcake
- Soft dried apricots
- Apricot Jam
- Amaretto
- Dried apricot pieces
- Almonds
- Custard
- Cream
Or
- Chocolate, rum and orange Trifle
- Pannatone
- Orange segments
- Chocolate ganache
- Chocolate truffles
- Rum
- Custard
- Cream
Or
- Croissant Ginger Trifle
- Croissant
- Stem ginger
- Marmalade
- Advocat
- Ginger
- Walnuts
- Custard
- Cream
Method:
- Spread the cake, croissant or panettone with the jam or marmalade and put in the bottom of the bowl
- Sprinkle over enough booze to soak the cake but not drown it.
- Add any flavourings (fruit, chocolate, ginger, dried fruit, nuts).
- Cover with custard (I use Birds custard)
- Cover with whipped cream.
- Decorate however you like – sprinkles. Nuts, sweeties, edible flowers, glace cherries.
